SunGard - Managing Director's Letter
London, UK – 15 January 2008 – SunGard (http://www.sungard.com) today announced that German energy company, ZMB GmbH, has gone live on SunGard’s FAME Energy data management and analytics solution. ZMB GmbH, a natural gas supplier to 21 markets across Europe, uses FAME Energy solutions to manage its gas pricing data and to support decisions for optimal operation of its gas storage facilities and long-term contracts.

"Gas storage is a major consideration for our company and we need to predict how gas prices will develop in the future in order to optimise our decisions for storage operations," said a spokesperson for ZMB. "Our contracts with customers are based on forward prices making the generation of accurate forward curves paramount to our business. SunGard provides us with both the depth and breadth of data and functionality to build and analyse forward curves. The EnergyScope solution helps us to achieve a reliable basis for forward price estimation to support day-to-day trading decisions by helping us to organise, update, and analyse energy market and reference data efficiently."

ZMB also uses SunGard’s EnergyServer, an open technology platform for the enterprise-wide consolidation, management and integration of energy data for business applications. "By replacing multiple disparate feeds with one consolidated fully managed feed provided by FAME Energy, we have streamlined our data acquisition process, addressing disparate data issues and reconciling business processes," said ZMB’s spokesperson.

Ian Gordon, managing director of SunGard’s FAME Energy business, said, “We are delighted with the impact that FAME Energy has had on ZMB’s business processes. Data inconsistencies due to multiple disparate systems, tightening regulatory pressures, trade failure due to poor quality data, and the general lack of control of energy market data, pose great challenges to European energy companies. FAME Energy solutions help them to overcome these challenges by providing reliable and accurate energy data management."
